OceanUbuntu tackles critical challenges in Mozambique's artisanal fishing sector by fostering sustainability, improving livelihoods, and supporting a thriving blue economy. The project will establish conservation infrastructure, including cabinets and a refrigeration container, boosting seafood quality and preventing spoilage. OceanUbuntu will train over 30 families and fishing committees in sustainable practices and post-harvest handling, enhancing product value and marketability. Additionally, the project introduces fish aggregation systems to support ecosystem restoration. OceanUbuntu's multifaceted approach empowers coastal communities, increases incomes, safeguards biodiversity, and directly contributes to achieving SDG 14, target 7.
