FishSource is the world’s best source of timely and actionable information on fisheries. As the result of a new collaboration, the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is adopting the standards used in FishSource to establish unique, standardized IDs for all of the world’s major fisheries. This will ensure discussion is about the same fisheries and stocks, strengthen transparency in sourcing, improve government data collection, and give small-scale fisheries an equal identity to large industrial fisheries.
